Which is the difference
between the single-user and multi-user versions?
The single-user version has been developed to be used by a
solo practitioner, and manages a single appointments book.
The multi-user version allows to create user profiles (up to
200), each one having his or her personalized prescriptions and
appointments book.
The multi-user version can be installed on a single workstation
to be shared between several practitioners, or it can operate as
network server as well, along with the network workstation
licenses, which can be purchased separately.
I need my secretary to
manage my appointments and to enter the patients' demographic
details on a separate workstation. Which version should I
purchase?
You should purchase a Network Main License (multi-user) for
the secretary to enter the appointments and the demographic
details, and as many Workstation Licenses as remote workstations
you will need.
Example: I have a multi-practice with three offices and a
reception. In this case you should purchas one main license and
three workstation licenses.
Are the updates free of
charge?
Yes. The updates are free for registered users of version 5
(5.00 to 5.99)
How do I set up the workstation network
license/s?
(Windows XP Pro)
Important: On an NTFS partition, Windows XP
Home does not allow to share these folders:
It is possible, however, to share subfolders
within those folders.
Note: The network must be installed and working.
1. Run the FM500.exe installer on the main computer.
The installation is done automatically and will guide you
through the necessary steps.
2. Share the C:\Medical-Soft folder:

Please be sure to set the proper permissions (allow Full Control/Read/Modify
for Everyone):

3. Assign a network drive letter to the shared "Medical-Soft" folder
on each workstation where the network licenses will be installed:
4. Install the network license(s) (FM500R1.exe,
FM500R2.exe, etc.) on each remote workstation.
5. Run FileMed on the remote workstation(s).
6. A dialog box like the following will appear:

7. Select network drive and the "FileMed5" folder.
8. Press "OK".
9. Restart Filemed.
You have to follow the same steps in every workstation you
set up.
If you do not know which the network drive of the main
computer is, consult someone who has proper knowledge about this
subject, i.e., the person who made the network installation.
Is there a limit to the number of patients?
The maximum is 128,000 patients, each one with
its clinical record and additional details, and 5,120,000 images
(40 per patient).
I have installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 and
get a warning saying “The publisher could not be verified”.
It is very likely that when installing the FileMed version you
have downloaded, you receive the following warning:

Digital signatures verify the authenticity of the software that is
provided by software publishers.
Even without a digital
signature, click to confirm that you want to install FileMed and
proceed with the installation without hesitation. The downloaded
file is virus-free guaranteed as well as secured against other
malware.
